Special thanks to the Southern Gospel News for their review of "Oh, What A Savior" in their August 1999 issue. The review is reprinted below.
Artist: Larry Smith - Cassette/CD
The songs on this project, “Oh, What A Savior” are powerful. “I’m Glad I Know Who Jesus Is”, “We Shall See Jesus”, and “I’d Rather Have Jesus” are just a few of the great songs included in the lineup. One of my personnal all-time favorites, “There Is A River”, is also thrown in. The last song, “He Could Have Walked On By”, finishes up this cassette. Larry Smith’s love for the Lord shows through as he sings on his latest solo project, “Oh, What A Savior”.
Project: Oh, What A Savior
Label: Independent
Recorded and Mastered at: Gaither Studios, Alexandria, Indiana
Co-Produced By: Roger Byrd / Larry Smith
Style: Southern Gospel
This recording project was recorded at Gaither Studios in Alexandria, Indiana during December 26th - 27th of 1997. The project was finally released in April of 1998. Gaither Studios is a state of the art recording studio. This studio is where a lot of the "Bill Gaither Homecoming Video" series are recorded. My recording is titled "Oh, What A Savior" and the producer's of the recording were Roger Byrd, of Gaither Studios, and myself. Roger is a very talented musician and in-house producer at Gaither Studios. He has been involved as producer on many recording projects at Gaither Studios and he was a big, big, help to me. Roger can be seen playing drums on many of the Gaither Homecoming videos. The recording engineer for the entire project was, Mark Bower, a very talented, and personable young man. My wife, Deborah, was also present at the recording session and offered many helpful suggestions, prayers and support. Before we started the actual recording session, we all joined together for prayer asking for the Lord's guidance during the production of this recording. We also prayed that this recording be used to "glorify and honor Him" and that it be used to win souls for His kingdom. I think that everyone involved in the recording session felt the Lord's presence in the studio. I hope that all who listen to this recording are blessed by the message in these songs. The project is available on CD or Cassette and can be ordered on my website. I accept personal checks, just print out an order form. You can also place an order safely by credit card by using the PayPal button under CD or Cassette. PayPal uses a secure ordering process and is a safe way to pay using your credit card or safely direct from your checking account.
I think everyone who enjoys "Southern Gospel Music" has heard the song "Oh, What A Savior" at one time or another in their life. I recorded the song "Oh, What A Savior" because the first time I heard the song, it touched me deeply and made me want to change my life and live for Jesus. I titled the project "Oh, What A Savior" and placed that song as the "title track" because it is so special to me.
There are nine other great Southern Gospel and inspirational songs included on this project. Listed below, is a list of songs that I personally selected for this recording, and they are all special to me.
